The CHEER Community Center in Georgetown was filled with music, movement, and excitement on Monday, July 13, as the Ocean City Dancers presented a lively variety show for attendees from CHEER’s Georgetown and Milton Senior Centers, and from Bridgeville Senior Center.
Managed by Renee Wight, the talented group of performers, all aged 55 and older, showcased an impressive range of entertainment that delighted the audience from beginning to end. The dancers represented several local organizations, including Ocean City Reccing Crew, Heritage Shores, Northside Park, Ocean Pines, and Evolve Fitness.
The high-energy performance featured a diverse program of tap dancing, jazz, modern dance, Zumba, and line dancing. Adding to the afternoon’s entertainment was a vocalist who captivated the crowd with multiple musical selections accompanied by acoustic guitar.
Throughout the show, audience members were encouraged to join in the fun, creating an engaging and interactive atmosphere. Seniors enthusiastically clapped along, sang with familiar tunes, and participated in several portions of the program, making the event a true celebration of community spirit and active living.
“The energy in the room was contagious,” said attendees following the performance. “It was wonderful to see so many talented dancers sharing their passion and bringing smiles to everyone in attendance.”
The afternoon concluded with one of the most memorable moments of the event. During a spirited rendition of the classic song “YMCA,” dancers and CHEER seniors joined together, singing, dancing, and interacting throughout the room. The joyful finale brought participants of all ages to their feet and highlighted the power of music and movement to bring people together.
The performance served as a reminder that staying active, creative, and connected can enrich lives at any age. Through their enthusiasm and talent, the Ocean City Dancers delivered an unforgettable afternoon that left audience members inspired, energized, and looking forward to future performances.
