The CHEERmobile Mini-Market is a ‘Grocery Store on Wheels’ and is available to any mature adult age 50+ or disabled adult Sussex County resident unable to shop on his or her own. The service is also available on a temporary basis to any adult recovering from medical treatment and unable to shop regularly.
The inventory boasts more than 175 staple grocery items ranging from cereal to toothpaste. All items are non-perishable with the exception of bread and milk. Pet foods are also stocked. The CHEERmobile drivers operate two alternating routes in order to cover the 960 square miles of Sussex County.
Groceries may be purchased by cash or check. The customer selects their groceries each week from an inventory list and the CHEERmobile driver delivers the selected items to the customer’s door. There is a one-time application fee of $10. Customers are not obligated to purchase any specified amount of groceries. There is a $5 grocery delivery fee.
The CHEERmobile is a program operated by CHEER, Inc., a non-profit organization dedicated to helping the mature adults of Sussex County maintain a healthy lifestyle. Anyone wishing to receive the CHEERmobile service should complete the short application form. Forms are available at the following CHEER locations; Greenwood, Slaughter Neck, Harbour Lights-Lewes, Oak Orchard, Ocean View, Roxana and Georgetown Activity Centers.
