Ralph Mitchell is among a group of elite food van drivers who really stepped up to the challenge during the COVID-19 pandemic. Delivering food from the central kitchen in Georgetown to CHEER's outlying centers in Sussex County is the primary responsibility of the food van drivers. However, when COVID-19 struck many volunteers were reluctant to be out in public delivering meals to seniors. Therefore, the food van drivers were called upon to deliver meals so that seniors could receive their nourishment for the day. Ralph has been known to deliver 30 meals in one day. He also hasn't let wearing an orthopedic boot on a broken foot stop him from serving the seniors.
Ralph began at CHEER in Septmeber 2013 following his retirement from the Delaware State Police. He can be seen at CHEER's special events directing traffic and parking vehicles. His other CHEER duties include going to the bank and post office. Thank you Ralph for your dedication to the agency.
