Ken Bock is the Chief Executive Officer for CHEER. He moved into the position over five years ago after serving as the Deputy Executive Director for 10 years. Before that, he retired from the State Department of Transportation. It is Ken's responsibility to oversee every department in the agency and ensure that services for our seniors are timely and efficiently provided. Ken also stays busy overseeing all construction projects. His largest endeavor was the recent addition to the agency's central kitchen at the CHEER Community Center which consisted of a three-year capital campaign to raise over $1.4 million dollars needed for construction and equipment. The project was completed on time and on budget.
During the past 18 months of the COVID pandemic, Ken has had the unprecedented challenge of keeping the agency running while also keeping his staff working. Everyone had to be creative and flexible during this time to ensure that seniors got fed and checked on while being in their homes alone. Ken never stop thinking and working. His compassion for the seniors of Sussex County gives him the energy to keep going.
When Ken does find a few minutes, he finds solace in the skies while piloting his airplane. He and his wife Julia also enjoy an occasional cruise at sea.
CHEER is thankful fo have a person with Ken's business background, knowledge, determiation, drive and compassion leading it into its next 50 years of service. Thank you Ken for serving the senior of Sussex County.
